Jonni Kitchell

I have been licensed in the state of Florida since 2017 and in Indiana since January of 2023. During this time I have worked with clients ages 5-97 with issues ranging from depression and anxiety to schizophrenia and psychosis. I have worked with clients within the school system, in Marchman Act and Baker Act facilities, and in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in identifying the ways in which their thinking becomes distorted and finding appropriate ways to cope with these distorted thoughts. I always meet the client where they are and help them to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.

It is important to make personal connections with my clients as well. I always like to find out about your interests in order to use those things when making analogies. For example, if I know you love art I will explain therapeutic concepts using art or artists.

Since I think it is important to make personal connections I am sharing a little about myself. I am a huge nerd. I love Harry Potter, anime, comic books, reading, and everything Disney. I often use analogies from these when talking to patients and am always happy to give or receive a good book recommendation.

I am a single mother to a wonderful child and have been a foster parent as well. I have worked as a parenting educator in the past, so I can help navigate difficult issues, while still sharing how even those who having taught parenting skills, like myself, can find parenting difficult. I am not afraid to reveal my human side and strive to normalize asking for help and admitting your struggles.
